Also known as Downy Sunflower.

Ashy Sunflower produces cheerful yellow flowers and is easily grown in a variety of soils, including average, sandy and poor rocky soils, as long as drainage is good. It does best in full sun but can tolerate part sun. It is an excellent prairie garden species. Numerous finches will eat the seeds.

Ashy Sunflower spreads through rhizomes and re-seeds if seed heads are allowed to mature.
