Dwarf Palmetto is a small, usually stemless, slow growing shrub that adds tropical feel in the garden. It does well in damp, shaded places. After establishment, it is relatively drought-tolerant.

Dwarf Palmetto is a good accent plant for moist areas and will tolerate poor drainage. It prefers heavy soils, but is adaptable. It produces white blooms in the spring followed by clusters of black fruit. Fruits are edible and taste like dates.
